What led you to do what you do, in supporting people to tap into themselves and navigate their connection to self, and what is your hope for teaching journaling?

My childhood was less than ideal. My Mum passed away when I was two, and my dad never really recovered. He didn't have the capacity to look after me or love me in the way I needed. From a very young age, I remember thinking I wanted any life other than the one I had. While I had access to food, shelter, and education, I still wanted and deserved more.

In my desperation to create a better life for myself, I was lucky to find self-development, and little by little, things changed. I learned about limiting beliefs and mindset, I started to connect with myself, and built up my confidence. In 2015, I studied life coaching simply to support myself more. Then friends asked me to coach them, and I began sharing what I had learned with others. It kind of became my thing.

I studied many other things and went back to university to study psychotherapy. After graduating with my Post Graduate Diploma, I was torn between becoming a registered psychotherapist or going back into my coaching business. I would love to be a psychotherapist one day, but right now, my mission is to share these tools with the masses in a way people can afford and access. That's what I think journaling offers us—an accessible tool to tap into parts of ourselves so we can grow and change. Not everyone can afford therapy or has the willingness to go, but we all deserve a place to heal. That's what I want to teach through journaling. I truly believe that what happened to you is not your fault, but it is your responsibility. With journaling, we get to safely look at these things, take responsibility, gain self awareness, and then ultimately choose to change. If you had a less-than-ideal start, please know it doesn't have to define your whole life.

What is your biggest health non-negotiable?

For me, it would be sleeping and getting outside. Those two things have such a strong ripple effect on all other areas of your life. We can see this with the bio directional relationship between sleep and healthy food choices for example. The more sleep we get, the more likely we are to make healthier food choices, and those food choices positively impact our quality of sleep.

What is your favourite daily ritual?

Movement or meditation.

What does sustainability mean to you?

Being able to do something for a long time. When I think about sustainable habits, it's things we actually enjoy. You can do anything with brute force and push, but only for so long. Instead, when we come from a place of love and enjoyment, we can sustain those habits. It's the same when we think about Mother Nature. We can push and force and abuse her, but there's a point where that will no longer be okay. We are bumping into that point as we speak.

Anything else you'd like us to know?

I'd say that it's so important to reach out for help and ask others when you need support. It's equally important to have a practice where you can ask yourself and come back home. You hold a lot of wisdom within you, and you always know what's best deep down.
