BEHIND THE BRAND WITH MADELINE TRUEMAN
What led you to do what you do, in nourishing people through food? And how would you describe your recipe style / food philosophy?
Even as a child, my love language was always nourishing people! Because of this, I knew that I was always going to end up working in the food industry in some capacity. My parents have always had a passion for gardening and each night we enjoyed big, colourful, plant-forward meals on the table. I like to think this daily ritual set me up for a lifetime love of food.
I specialise in recipes that incorporate seasonal, whole and nourishing ingredients. I believe that food is energy and love to think that the meals I create carry a high vibration. I think that food goes beyond just taste - how it looks, smells and feels when we eat it all play a role in the experience.
2. What is your biggest health non-negotiable?
I have two!
Filtered water and lots of it!
Positive self-talk and thoughts. I strongly believe that talking to ourselves with self-compassion is the first step in fostering a great relationship with ourselves and encouraging great health. From here, the flow-on effect is limitless.
3. What is your favourite daily ritual?
Spending my mornings outside! I love exposing my eyes to sunshine first thing in the morning. This always sets the tone for a great day. Bonus points if I can enjoy a warm drink in the sun or incorporate some sort of movement like yoga or walking!
4. What does sustainability mean to you?
Meeting the needs of our generation without compromising those of the next and leaving things better than we found them.
5. Anything else you'd like us to know?
I have recently been reminded that vibrant health is so much less complicated than we have made it to be. Social media will tell you that you need all of the latest things - supplements, float pods, infrared saunas, $50 fitness classes. While all of these things are nice (trust me I love them too!), what is truly needed is quite basic. Fresh air, gentle movement, rest, nourishing food, mindfulness or meditation, connection and community are the true pillars for great health.
What is your biggest health non-negotiable?
For me, it would be sleeping and getting outside. Those two things have such a strong ripple effect on all other areas of your life. We can see this with the bio directional relationship between sleep and healthy food choices for example. The more sleep we get, the more likely we are to make healthier food choices, and those food choices positively impact our quality of sleep.
What is your favourite daily ritual?
Movement or meditation.
What does sustainability mean to you?
Being able to do something for a long time. When I think about sustainable habits, it's things we actually enjoy. You can do anything with brute force and push, but only for so long. Instead, when we come from a place of love and enjoyment, we can sustain those habits. It's the same when we think about Mother Nature. We can push and force and abuse her, but there's a point where that will no longer be okay. We are bumping into that point as we speak.
Anything else you'd like us to know?
I'd say that it's so important to reach out for help and ask others when you need support. It's equally important to have a practice where you can ask yourself and come back home. You hold a lot of wisdom within you, and you always know what's best deep down.
