A little behind the brand with Stacey, Gemmologist and Co-Founder of Uluna

Why did you start Uluna?

Uluna began as a way for us (Mum and I) to share our passions in gemmology and aromatherapy (olfaction) whilst providing tools to support people during their journey through life. It evolved from selling aroma blends and crystals to a full-scale wellness space with a focus on rituals and experiences with high grade, high vibrational crystals. Now we are expanding our educational space which is a crusade of mine - to empower people with the science behind crystals and energetics.

What do you have for breakfast?

I always eat breakfast before coffee - this has been a blessing for my nervous system! I eat a gluten-free mix of seeds and nuts with coconut yoghurt and fruit. Coffee comes 90 minutes after waking to align with my ultradian rhythm (I’m a nut for brain-hacks!).

What is your biggest health non-negotiable?

Pilates! After some back injuries I've always ensured I care for my core/back and pilates has been a miracle worker. I feel in my power and am able to lift my son and heavy crystals around the Uluna HQ.

What is your favourite daily ritual?

Crystal meditation with an Uluna roller of course! Another benefit to a late morning coffee is space to lean into a deep meditation to start the day. Currently I'm working with White Topaz, my November Aroma Blend and a self-guided chakra scan meditation.

What is your biggest indulgence?

I really love food! This also encompasses cooking and I'm always inspired to create new meals and combinations. It’s also a skill I learned from both my parents and something I really love doing with my brother. I love buying beautiful, fresh, interesting ingredients and cooking an indulgent and delicious family meal.

What does sustainability mean to you?

Sustainability means being conscious of the exchange of energy and sacrifices to the planet and people throughout the process of acquisition.

Sourcing and selling with honesty and without greed. Everything is an exchange of energy, be it money, time or resources. Sustainability requires a balanced exchange. In the industry of crystals, sustainability isn’t really spoken about, our ethics are heavily focused on the people and practices. Whilst the crystals are formed over millions of years, we can’t ensure they’re renewed, but we can certainly pay attention to the environmental impact of certain mining techniques. We also focus on a low carbon footprint by sourcing directly from the mines or better yet locally, rather than an international gem show where pieces fly around the world twice before ending up in your hands.

What does luxury meant to you?

A sensory explosion of beauty and pleasure

Luxury to me can be achieved in the most mundane moments. Luxury is a pleasure ritual, a mindful practice and can be achieved by integrating sensory stimulation into life’s moments to ignite our pleasure sensors.

Morning coffee? Why not mindfully smell the roasted aroma, feel the sun on your skin whilst sitting outside and tune into the sounds of nature and life around you? This is taking an ordinary moment and creating a luxurious experience. It doesn’t have to mean expensive or rare - it just means “make it pleasurable”. That, for the most part, is up to your mindset and focus.
